MUST HEAR: “Cartoon & Cereal” – Kendrick Lamar
Kendrick Lamar’s new “Cartoon & Cereal” track is kind of weird but it commanded my attention and I LOVE IT! I always knew that Kendrick would be on my list of Top 10 rappers but his style is growing on me. I’m ashamed it took this long but nonetheless I am a fan.
“Cartoon & Cereal” features Gunplay and was produced by THC. I’m hoping this song will be on his upcoming Good Kid in a Mad City album.
VIDEO: NYC Soul Train Flash Mob
This past Saturday (Feb. 4th), hundreds of Soul Train fans graced New York’s Times Square to recreate the famous Soul Train lines in a flash mob honoring Don Cornelius. The creator of Soul Train committed suicide last Wednesday. While people are shocked and overwhelmed with the sad news of Cornelius’ death, the show was always so energetic and fun making a flash mob an appropriate way to honor and remember such a pioneer.
Diddy to Launch Revolt
Cathy Hughes, Oprah and now Sean “Diddy” Combs. Though concrete details are hard to come by when it comes to this venture, it has been reported that on 12/12/12 Diddy will launch Revolt, a music-themed cable network. Revolt is being described as the new “old MTV” but will cater to African Americans.Comcast and Time Warner Cable are already in talks of distribution.
Sounds like MTV with a BET twist to me.
Artist To Watch: @IggyAzalea
As of September of last year, the internet world has already deemed Iggy Azalea an Artist To Watch. Ever since, Azalea has managed to command attention and in doing so, created a pretty big following of #Azaleans.
If you frequent GMPR, you already know how much I love a good female rapper. In an industry that is male dominated, I think a female rapper either established or on the come up is a huge statement for women in general. Although most women wouldn’t want to be defined by some of their lyrics, you can’t help but feel a sense of empowerment when a track from a female rapper comes on the radio, in the club or on the net. With all that being said and my anger towards Remy’s continued stint in jail, I am super happy to see another female gracing the rap scene.
21-year-old Austrian native and LA based rapper, Iggy Azalea is stylish and lyrically bold. Azalea’s latest mixtape, Ignorant Art and accompany visuals are a little all over the place but it’s provocative and fun and I appreciate that. Influenced by Tupac Shakur, her raw and hardcore tracks have led industry mavens to believe she is the next big thing in Hip Hop. She definitely has my attention and I’m interested to see how she will stand out in a land of Nicki Minaj.
Despite constant racial comments and numerous comparisons, Azalea is steady making moves. It is not official but word is she is on the brink of a deal with Def Jam. Also, she admits to being linked to rapper A$AP Rocky. In an interview with VIBE she admitted that an attempted collaboration turned into something more substantial.
Seems like Iggy Azalea is on her way to having it all. If you aren’t familiar get acquainted with her work below.

The Helps’ Viola Davis Deleivers Emtional & Touching Acceptance Speech
Need some inspiration today? Viola Davis gave enough inspiration for months to come in last night’s acceptance speech for Critic’s Choice Movie Awards‘ “Best Actress”. The actress who played Aibileen Clark, a maid living in Mississippi during the 1960′s in The Help started by saying, “I am absolutely so humbled.”
She continued on by sharing her “dream big” mentality and went on to warm the hearts of those watching. The Help finished the night with three awards in all including best supporting actress for co-star Octavia Spencer and best acting ensemble award for the entire cast.

CÎROC’s Holiday Celebration Commercial + Tequila from Diddy
Why wouldn’t you want to “celebrate life responsibly” with CÎROC Ultra Premium Vodka especially when Diddy makes it look so glamorous in his holiday celebration commercial.
The commercial, rat pack style, features music from Frank Sinatra’s “Luck Be a Lady” and a star-studded cast living it up in Vegas. The “good life” portrayed in the commercial makes it hard to resist a bottle of CÎROC this holiday season. Peach for me please! Watch the full length commercial below.
In other Diddy news…Diddy is thinking about tequlia now that he has mastered vodka. He tells E!: “There isn’t one particular tequila that I love and I’ve been spending a lot of time in Mexico…So in the next year, you will probably see me going toe to toe with John Paul [Jones DeJoria], who owns Patrón…I’ll be challenging him to who makes the best, smoothest and most authentic tequila in the world.”
Kandi Launches Kandi Koated Spades
Grammy winner, song writer and Atlanta Housewife Kandi Burruss plays no games when it come to her Kandi Koated empire. Online show, sex toys and now a app. Although I think her brand is all over the place, I love her entrepreneurial spirit.
Earlier this week, Kandi launched the new iPhone/iPad app Kandi Koated Spades (KKS) at Frank Ski’s Restaurant in Atlanta.
Kandi bragged that her spades app is like no other. “We wanted ours to be like real life,” Kandi explained. “Kandi Koated Spades has all of the real action that we use in Spades, like reneging and cutting,” said Kandi. KKS also features online multiplayer, custom avatars, in-game profiles, practice mode and Twitter.
KKS was developed by Konsole Kingz owners CJ Peters and Marcus Matthews. The app is already topping the top 10 in iPhone Card Apps coming in at #4. “I love this app and I know my hardcore Spades players will too,” Kandi said.
Check out her behind the scenes video at the KKS photo shoot.
